Easter's a good excuse, Mother's Day too. For piling on the chocolate but in a way that has nothing to do with your waistline.

Chocoholics among you will know that the good old cocoa bean is good for you. And a therapy which relies on Green and Blacks organic sounds too good to be true, does it not?

But there is science behind it, says therapist Suzanne Morrison, a former stockbroker who quit her job to go all holistic beneath the North Yorks Moors.

Her salon is the first one on Teesside to offer the Karin Herzog treatment range which is the darling of celebs such as Kylie, Renee Zellweger and Stella McCartney (she even gave wedding guests a pot of Karin Herzog cream as a wedding 'favour').

The USP of the Herzog treatment range is the use of oxygen to transport beneficial ingredients deep into the skin and to feed it from deep within - such as regenerative Vitamin A which plumps and revitalises tired faces.

The 90-minute chocolate facial starts with a deep back massage to get you in the mood, nice and relaxed. Monoi oil, infused with cocoa beans is the massage base. I confess at the outset that I was suffering from a sinus infection so I missed out on being able to smell any of this which is one of the key factors... I did nevertheless enjoy the whole thing immensely.

After the back massage, the face is prepared with a chocolate cleanser using products from the range - some of which are very chocolatey to look at and others which aren't.

For the exfoliation bit, I kid you not, Suzanne really did grab a tub of Green and Blacks organic and mix it with exfoliator before applying it to the face.

This pounds the face with important fatty acids, potassium, lipids and vitamins. The action of the oxygen then takes them where they need to go and you can feel the face plumping and smoothing by the minute.

When a mask is added, a gauze goes over your face then milted chocolate is painted on with a paintbrush before being covered by cling film to warm the skin and speed the process. How a chocolate roulade must feel...

It ends with the application of more oxygen-packed potions which do deliver the promise of an instant lift and boost. You will be able to see the difference.

It all ends beautifully with a cup of hot chocolate and your very own mini bar of Green and Blacks... chocolate heaven indeed.
